Crabbing at the Jersey Shore

THE “JERSEY BLUE CLAW” CRABBING INDUSTRY

Of the wide variety of marine animals on the Atlantic Coast, none is more well-known by people, young and old’, than the Blue Claw Crab. Its abundance, beautiful coloration and delicious flavor make it a favorite of recreational crabbers in New Jersey. Crabbing is a family sport enjoyed by all regardless of age or sex and when compared to other forms of recreation, it relatively inexpensive. Blue crabs are abundant along our coast, in tidal creeks, in rivers, and in the salt waters of our Barnegat Bay.
