ELCO NAVAL PT BOAT DISPLAY
N.J. Museum of Boating Launches ELCO NAVAL PT BOAT DISPLAY
NJMB announced today a new display to be offered to the public commencing Augest 5, 2015. ELCO Naval Division of Bayonne contracted with the U.S. Navy early during WWII to produce over 400 of he famous Motor Torpedo Boats which fought primarily in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. Included in this historic display will be a model of the famous PT 109, captained by the late President Kennedy. The new exhibit will also feature complete narratives with pictorial display of the role ELCO played in the War effort production at their Bayonne site. In addition, a rare 25 minute film will be on view at the Museum showing the ELCO plant in process of building an actual PT boat from laying the keel to the its’ launching and trial runs in
Newark Bay.
The N.J. Museum of Boating is located at Bay Ave. and Meadow St. in Building #13 at Johnson Brothers Marina, Pt. Pleasant, N.J. Hours are 12:00 – 4:00 pm Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
