“Snoopy” NJ Racing Garvey
“Snoopy”
One of the first style craft built in New Jersey was the Garvey type with a square bow and flat bottom allowing the boats to skim across the bay. In the 1940’s, many of them were converted to what was called ‘racing garveys’, with large V-8 engines and high speeds. Garvey races sprung up along our coastal towns and to this day are still held in summer along the Barnegat coast.
Snoopy is one of these type racing craft, she has been re-powered and re-stored to original condition and is on display for kids of all ages.
